The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has pledged to implement 5,000 new projects in Indigenous communities over the next five years if re-elected on September 1. This initiative, detailed in the party’s 2025 manifesto, aims to enhance hinterland village economies.

The projects will focus on supporting Village Sustainability Plans (VSPs) and will be primarily funded through the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030. Guyana has already earned US$750 million from forest conservation, with 15% of revenues directed to Indigenous villages.
The PPP/C plans to expand access to LCDS funding, improve infrastructure in the hinterland, and promote community-based enterprises and job creation. They also aim to enhance training opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, and tourism, including the development of village-level tourism products.
