The President announced plans to upgrade the Linden airstrip to a proper regional facility, invest in concrete drainage systems to prevent flooding, and support a comprehensive tourism expansion strategy. He also highlighted the development of a modern servicing and engineering sector.

“These are the facts. This is the reality. When you vote on the 1st of September, you are voting for a strong, stable, and secure future with the People’s Progressive Party,” Dr. Ali stated.

Accompanied by Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips and Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, the President reassured the audience of his government’s commitment to enhancing financial services for riverain communities. “We are going to modernize our central bank laws and expand the range of financial services for the people in Region 10,” he explained.

Dr. Ali also discussed plans for upgrading bridges and road infrastructure, as well as investing in value-added initiatives in the bauxite sector, which is crucial for the livelihood of many residents. He stressed, “Any bauxite company talking to us now about expansion must be ready to invest in value creation and value-added initiatives.”

Further commitments included expanding livestock and cash crop farming, redeveloping the Mackenzie and Wismar markets, increasing access to government services, and building an oncology hospital to improve healthcare in the region.

The President noted that these initiatives stemmed from consultations with community members along the Upper Demerara and Berbice Rivers. To realize these projects, he emphasized the importance of retaining a majority in the National Assembly.

“We are a party about vision, about plans, about strategy… You are voting for an overwhelming majority in Parliament so we can invest in these things,” he urged supporters.

Dr. Ali also addressed younger voters who may have shifted their support to other parties, saying, “It is not too late” to endorse the PPP/C for a better standard of living. He promised to allocate resources to religious organizations to enhance their role in community improvement.

“My friends, the choice is clear. That choice is about your future, that choice is about the best possible Region 10… We have shown you that you can trust us, we have shown you our level of commitment—and on the 1st of September, together we will show all of Guyana that we want this,” he concluded.

The rally, held in Wismar, drew enthusiastic support from residents eager to hear about the future of their region.
