President Irfaan Ali announced Wednesday night that the government plans to provide a cash grant of $100,000 for every citizen aged 18 and older in the upcoming 2026 national budget. This commitment is part of a broader initiative to offer additional financial support to households throughout his five-year term in office.

Speaking during a national address at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, President Ali stated that the cash grant will be included in the Budget for 2026, which is anticipated to be presented early in the new year.
“This pledge expands on our direct financial support to households as outlined in the ruling party’s 2025 manifesto,” he noted, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of citizens.
In addition to the initial grant, President Ali indicated that more cash grants would be rolled out during his administration, signifying a long-term strategy for direct assistance to the public.
The announcement has garnered attention as the government seeks to strengthen its financial support framework for citizens, particularly in the face of ongoing economic challenges. Further details are expected as the 2026 national budget is finalized and presented.
