President Ali Promises Major Government Overhaul if Re-Elected

  • News

President Irfaan Ali has pledged a significant restructuring of the government if his party, the PPP/C, is re-elected in the upcoming September elections. He aims to create a nimble, project-driven model that reduces bureaucracy and leverages technology to meet ambitious goals over the next five years.

Ali stated that the changes would begin “day one” of a new term, aligning government structures with major industrial, infrastructure, and social projects to transform the economy. He emphasized plans to enhance value-added production in sectors like bauxite and forestry and to advance industrial economic zones in Berbice and Wales.

The proposed governance style would focus on accountability, transparency, and efficiency, utilizing skilled teams to execute initiatives under strict timelines. Ali highlighted the importance of investing in human capital and advancing sectors such as data services, tourism, and renewable energy.

“It’s going to be a high-paced, high-speed environment,” he concluded.
