President Irfaan Ali Calls for Unity Against Common Enemies in Moruca

  • News

President Irfaan Ali addressed party supporters on Saturday, describing the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Alliance For Change (AFC), and the We Invest In Nationhood (WIN) movement as the “common enemy” of progress. He urged the community to reject parties offering lofty promises and to remain loyal to the governing People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C).

Ali emphasized that Amerindian development remains a top priority for his administration, warning Region 1 not to gamble with their votes. “Just like you saw in 2011 and in 2015, there is one common enemy against progress… those who oppose the People’s Progressive Party Civic, whether they are APNU, AFC, or WIN, are all part of the same segment that opposes you,” he stated.

The President highlighted the government’s investments in various sectors within Region 1, acknowledging that while progress has been made, much more work is needed to ensure that all citizens, particularly the youth, can thrive. “Do not take the investments that we have made in you for granted,” he cautioned, reaffirming the PPP/C’s commitment to providing the best healthcare, education, infrastructure, and opportunities for all residents.

Ali detailed ongoing transformation projects in Region 1, asserting that only the PPP/C can lead this development. “Under the People’s Progressive Party/Civic, we are not only going to continue the investments but also provide more benefits every single year we are in government,” he promised. He urged the community to recognize the achievements of the PPP/C, stating, “When those persons come and give cash grants and increase salaries, tell them that the People’s Progressive Party/Civic has already done that, and we are going to do it more and better in the years ahead.”

Additionally, the President pledged to increase the salaries of Community Service Officers in Hinterland regions and promised expanded opportunities in sports and technical vocational education, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to the development of the region and its people.
