Rickford Burke, a prominent figure in Guyana’s political landscape, has taken to social media to raise crucial questions directed at presidential candidate Azruddin Mohamed. In a detailed post, Burke highlighted concerns shared by social media influencers, community leaders, and voters about the socio-economic state of the majority of Guyanese, particularly among African and indigenous populations.

Burke’s inquiry begins by acknowledging the support Mohamed has garnered from those eager to see the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) ousted from power. He asked Mohamed to categorically state whether he would betray this trust by aligning himself with former PPP supporters, including Geeta Chandan-Edmond and others, after the elections.
Further, Burke questioned Mohamed’s commitment to the opposition. He posed a scenario in which the September 1, 2025, elections yield a minority PPP government, asking whether Mohamed would join other opposition members in parliament to initiate a no-confidence motion against the PPP.
Burke also raised serious allegations, asking if Mohamed or his family had ever financed or participated in funding any death squads or gangs involved in extrajudicial killings in Guyana. He called for a commitment from Mohamed to launch an international investigation into these murders if elected.
Additionally, Burke referenced Mohamed’s past financial support for the PPP, including a reported $100 million donation for the 2020 election campaign. He questioned whether, had Mohamed not fallen out with the PPP, he would still have spoken out against their alleged corruption and formed his own party.
Lastly, Burke pointed out that with just 40 days until the elections, Mohamed had yet to disclose any damaging information about the PPP, despite previously claiming to have substantial evidence of wrongdoing.
Burke emphasized that his questions are not politically motivated but stem from genuine concerns shared by many Guyanese.
