Relatives of Missing Man Plead for Answers After Three Months

Relatives of 25-year-old Alvin Bhawani, known as ‘Pinky,’ from Soesdyke Junction, East Bank Demerara, are urgently seeking answers after he went missing in the interior nearly three months ago.

Bhawani left for Mabura, Region 10, on July 13, 2025, to work at a gold mining operation. Two days later, family members received concerning news that he had vanished. Despite multiple reports to police stations, including in Mabura, the family has received no updates on his whereabouts.

Selena Johnson, a relative, shared that Bhawani left his phone, clothing, and other belongings at the mining camp, which is unusual for him. “He usually calls his mother if he needs credit,” Johnson noted.

According to the camp’s General Manager, Bhawani left to go to the toilet on July 15 and was never seen again. Johnson added that Bhawani was accompanied by a friend known only as ‘Boy,’ who claimed to have heard he was spotted on a pontoon heading to Mahdia.

Boy returned some of Bhawani’s belongings, including his phone and music box.

The family is deeply concerned, as it’s uncharacteristic for Bhawani to be away for such an extended period. “His mother is worried. We just want to know if he’s safe or if something has happened to him,” Johnson said.

Relatives are planning a trip to the interior to search for him themselves. Anyone with information about Alvin Bhawani’s whereabouts is urged to contact the nearest police station or his mother, Shelly Jhaman, at +592-730-9993.
