As members and supporters of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC Reform) and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) gathered at the Square of the Revolution to kick off their election campaign on Sunday, Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde publicly announced his full support for Aubrey Norton as the party’s presidential candidate.

Forde, who was among the early contenders for the party leadership during the last internal elections, stepped back prior to voting day citing various concerns. In a statement shared on Facebook, he emphasized the significance of the upcoming elections, stating, “This election is just not another date on the calendar. It’s a chance to reset our nation’s course, to reclaim dignity, equity, and opportunity for all.”
He expressed pride in endorsing both Norton for president and Juretha Fernandes for prime minister under the APNU banner. “Aubrey Norton is a man of the people, tested, proven, and grounded in the principles of democracy and national unity,” Forde remarked, highlighting Norton’s understanding of the struggles faced by everyday Guyanese.
Forde also praised Fernandes, describing her as a symbol of modern Guyana. “Juretha brings a breath of fresh leadership. Her vision, integrity, and compassion make her essential for inclusivity and innovation in our future,” he stated.
As a candidate on APNU’s list for the upcoming elections, Forde reiterated his commitment to constitutional governance, legal reform, and economic unity. “An APNU government will respect the rights of citizens, ensuring their voices are heard,” he affirmed.
“The stakes are high, the time is now, and the choice is certainly clear,” Forde concluded, offering his full endorsement of the Norton-Fernandes ticket ahead of the elections scheduled for September 1.
