Kamraj Gildharie, a 44‑year‑old Guyanese security guard of Indian descent from Richmond Coconut Dam, Essequibo Coast, was fined after pleading guilty to refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test, contrary to Section 39B(5) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.
The offence occurred on Saturday, 15 November 2025, on Reliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The matter was heard on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. Gildharie changed his plea from not guilty to guilty and was fined $20,000. In default of payment, he was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
