Several Youth Endorsements at PP/C 2025 Election Campaign

The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) officially kicked off its 2025 election campaign on Sunday afternoon, receiving enthusiastic endorsements from a diverse group of young supporters. Notable figures included cardiologist Dr. Mahendra Carpen, economist Roger Rogers, Toshao of Bethany village Sonia Latchman, and former PNC central executive committee member Thandi McAlister.

The overarching message from these endorsements emphasized the PPP’s commitment to young people and highlighted the party’s achievements, making a compelling case for a second term in office starting September 1, 2025.

Thandi McAlister, who previously spent most of her life aligned with the PNC, addressed questions from former colleagues about her switch to the PPP. “Open your eyes, look around with a clear conscience, and tell me, ‘Why not?’” she urged. Citing the massive development across the country, she encouraged citizens to vote for the PPP “for the continuation of progress.”

Dr. Carpen, reflecting on his 25 years in the health sector, praised the advancements in healthcare over the past five years. “What I have seen in healthcare in Guyana is unmatched anywhere I have ever seen,” he remarked, attributing this progress to the shared vision of talented leaders within the party.

Sonia Latchman highlighted the investments made in indigenous communities, stressing the importance of continuing these initiatives.

Economist Roger Rogers, now a candidate for the PPP/C, pointed out the government’s focus on youth development. “The investment your government has been making in the youth is significant,” he stated. “The youth is the future of this country, and we have invested and will continue to invest in the youth.”

Azizi Christiani from the Essequibo Coast echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that the PPP believes young people are not just the future but the present. “That is why we are getting the opportunity now to lead,” he said.

Former national cricketer and businessman Steven Jacobs reinforced the message of unity and inclusivity. He urged the crowd to focus on vision and plans rather than personalities, stating, “We have a decision to make on September 1. Let us ensure we vote for someone with a vision, someone with a plan, and someone with a track record,” referring to President Irfaan Ali.

The campaign launch also featured speeches from Vickash Ramkissoon and Mishka White, further solidifying the PPP/C’s commitment to engaging young voices in the political process. As the party gears up for the upcoming elections, the endorsements reflect a strong belief in the PPP’s vision for the future of Guyana.
