Shemroy Robertson, also known as “Minutes,” has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of aiding in the trafficking of 1.174 kilograms of cannabis. The sentencing took place at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Azore on Friday.

In addition to the imprisonment, Robertson was fined GYD $30,000. The conviction stems from an operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit on June 17, 2021. During this operation, officers intercepted a minibus on the Annsgrove Public Road, East Coast Demerara, where they arrested a suspect in possession of the cannabis. Following an investigation, Robertson was apprehended.
This is not Robertson’s first brush with the law. He was previously arrested on January 15, 2016, along with another suspect for possession of 1.156 kilograms of cocaine. While the other suspect was released, Robertson was ordered to stand trial in the High Court, where he was granted bail of GYD $600,000, which is still pending.
Additionally, Robertson faced charges on March 6, 2017, alongside three others, but those charges against him were eventually dropped. His recent conviction marks a significant development in his legal troubles as he now serves his sentence.
