Osafo Blackette, also known as ‘Shine Shoes’, a 24-year-old farmer from Victoria, has been charged with two counts of Simple Larceny.

Blackette was arrested on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, following allegations that he committed the offenses against Rakesh Sanicharra, a 32-year-old businessman from Zeelugt, and Narine Gobin, a 46-year-old businessman from Naamryck, between January 5 and January 6, 2026, in Belfield, East Coast Demerara.
Appearing in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court #1 before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at approximately 11:30 AM on January 7, Blackette pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was subsequently granted bail at a sum of $75,000 for each count.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 11, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.
