Police have confirmed that six individuals have been charged in connection with the death of wanted man Jamal Bourne, whose final moments were captured in a widely circulated video on social media.

Shilon Nurse will face charges for possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license. Additionally, Nurse is charged jointly with Sasha Lyken, Osaffo Thomas, Tyron Gill, Yashua Angoy, and Latanya Rambharrat for failing to report an unnatural death.

The charges will be presented to the accused, currently in custody, before a magistrate on Monday, January 26, 2026. This follows investigators submitting their file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on January 23, 2026, and receiving legal advice.

The charges stem from a police operation carried out on Wednesday in the Three Miles area of Wisroc Housing Scheme, where investigators discovered what are believed to be burnt human remains. Police Headquarters reported that a burnt section was examined, uncovering ashes and bones believed to be Bourne’s, secured for forensic analysis.

During the same operation, a nearby wooden structure was searched, leading to the recovery of several items, including a suspected pistol with an empty magazine, three shotgun cartridges, a suspected spent 9mm shell, knives, clothing, and other items of interest. Authorities also found three toy rifles hidden in nearby bushes.

The investigation revealed that after Bourne reportedly shot himself during a live Facebook broadcast, his body was allegedly transported to a remote area, burned, and later dumped into a creek. The video of Bourne’s tragic incident has raised significant public concern and prompted police intervention.
