On January 24, 2026, the two women were reportedly found with approximately 345.8 pounds of cannabis in Number 10 Village, West Coast Berbice, leading to suspicions that the drugs were intended for trafficking. Both women pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Their initial appearance at Blairmont Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Michelle Matthias, resulted in a denial of bail due to the serious nature of the charges and the significant amount of narcotics involved, leading to their remand in custody.

However, during a subsequent hearing on Thursday at Fort Wellington Magistrates Court, under Magistrate Tuanna Hardy, attorney Bernard Da Silva submitted a bail application for his clients. He indicated that they were willing to comply with any conditions set by the court.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Garfield Edwards expressed concerns during the hearing, pointing out the serious implications facing the women if convicted and underscoring the likelihood of recurring offenses given the substantial amount of drugs involved. He noted that both women were the sole occupants of the vehicle when the illegal substance was found, and the vehicle was not registered to either of them.

Magistrate Hardy granted bail to Bryan under conditions that require her to submit all relevant documentation and report to the nearest police station bi-weekly. In contrast, Pitt was denied bail due to her previous history of a similar offense while on bail, with another case ongoing in the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court related to the 2023 incident.

Pitt has been further remanded to prison. The prosecution has yet to provide complete disclosure, and there is currently no trial date set. The case has been adjourned until March 26, 2026, for further reports and disclosure.
