This morning, I observed a drone flying suspiciously low over my Husband home. Over the past few days, I have noticed a series of unusual activities that have raised concerns for my family’s safety. As a precaution, I felt compelled to request the presence of a security guard.
The drone’s descent was alarming, especially when a close female relative of mine had just exited the bathroom and felt exposed, prompting her to seek cover. Prior to this incident, I had also been followed by vehicles, a situation that began shortly after the bullying incident at the hostel, which was witnessed by many.
I want to make it clear to those involved in these actions that they will not intimidate me or prevent me from advocating for my people. My ancestors, as strong members of the first peoples of this land, inspire my resilience. As a proud Lokono, I draw strength and protection from my heritage, and I am committed to making them proud.
