Suddie Resident Charged with Possession of Cannabis

Bab Benjamin, a 22-year-old resident of the Suddie Housing Scheme, has been arrested and charged with possession of narcotics after being found with 14.3 grams of cannabis. This charge is in violation of Section 4(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.

On January 14, 2026, Benjamin appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

As a result, he was fined $13,000 and sentenced to complete ninety (90) hours of community service at the Suddie Police Station Compound. This service is to be performed over a period of thirty (30) days, commencing on January 15, 2026. Should he fail to complete the community service, Benjamin could face an alternative sentence of six months’ imprisonment.

This case is part of ongoing efforts to address and regulate drug-related offenses in the region.
