Ameer Husain, a taxi driver from Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, pleaded guilty to the offence of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in a court appearance on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Husain appeared before His Worship Dylon Bess at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was formally presented. Following his guilty plea, the court imposed a fine of $150,000 Guyanese dollars. Alternatively, Husain faced a penalty of three months’ imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.
