An 18-year-old male, Trevon Williams, has been remanded to prison following his arrest for the murder of 25-year-old Nicholas Fredericks during an altercation last week.

The incident occurred at approximately 02:30 hours on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Caumeru, Wakapoa Village, situated along the Lower Pomeroon River. Both men were known to each other and were locals from the same village, working as gold miners.

Reports indicate that the altercation arose from a previous dispute involving relatives at a village event. During the confrontation, Williams allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Fredericks multiple times—twice in the upper left chest, once in the lower right abdomen, and once in the left ear.

Following the incident, Williams was arrested and confessed to the crime. He was charged with murder and appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate Court on Friday. He was not required to plead to the charge and was subsequently remanded to prison.

Williams is scheduled to return to court on January 12, 2026, as the investigation continues.
