Three Arrested Following Cocaine Discovery in Mora Village, Parika

Three suspects have been apprehended after officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) discovered more than 24 pounds of cocaine in Mora Village, Parika, East Bank Essequibo.

The operation took place on Friday evening after CANU acted on received intelligence. During the operation, officers intercepted three males, one of whom was carrying a haversack. A subsequent search of the bag revealed three brick-like parcels suspected to contain cocaine.

The suspects—identified as Jared Kellawan, Jahdiel Kellawan, and David Newsum—were arrested on the scene. Following their arrest, CANU officers conducted a search at the residence of Jared Kellawan, where they discovered an additional seven brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine.

The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to 10.966 kilograms (24.176 pounds). The suspects were taken to CANU Headquarters for further questioning, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
