Three men were remanded to prison on Monday after appearing in the Leonora Magistrate’s Court in connection with an alleged armed home invasion targeting a senior housing official.
The accused—identified as Yohance Carroll, 22, of Tucville Squatting Area; Earl Grant, 23, a laborer of Tucville; and Adrian Greenidge, 23, a security guard of Cane View Squatting Area—were jointly charged with Attempt to Commit a Felony – Robbery Under Arms.
Additionally, Grant and Greenidge face separate charges for the unlicensed possession of firearms and ammunition.
Appearing before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan, the trio was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charges. Bail was refused, and all three men were remanded to prison until their next court appearance on October 9, 2026.
The charges stem from an incident on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo residence of the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s (CH&PA) Director of Projects.
According to police reports, the 42-year-old official had just returned inside his home after taking out the trash when he checked his closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitors. The footage captured four masked men entering his yard and attempting to force entry through a door.
The homeowner immediately contacted the police. Responding law enforcement ranks swiftly mobilized and intercepted three suspects matching the description at Fisher Dam, Zeelugt.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of two firearms, each loaded with three matching rounds of ammunition. Investigations into the foiled robbery remain ongoing.
