Big Smith News Watch Reports : Police have detained three suspects related to the death of 27-year-old Christopher Stephens, whose body was found floating in the Puruni River on August 18, 2025.
The men were taken to the Bartica Police Station on August 20 and are assisting investigators. An eyewitness reported seeing a man armed with a cutlass attacking Stephens, claiming he tried to intervene.
Stephens’ body was discovered face down in the river, showing signs of violence, including a suspected chop wound to the forehead. He was identified by his sister, Catianna Stephens.
The Guyana Police Force has launched a full investigation into the incident, believed to have occurred on the evening of August 16 at Puruni Landing.
