Traffic Enforcement Exercise Conducted by Madewini Police Outpost

Ranks from the Madewini Police Outpost at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, led by an inspector, conducted a targeted traffic enforcement exercise along the Soesdyke public road on Wednesday. During this operation, several minibus operators were found in breach of various regulations:

Failure to wear seat belt – 1 violation

Breach of road service license conditions – 4 violations

Prohibition of tinted glass – 4 violations

Breaching dealer permit license – 1 violation

Breach of insurance – 2 violations

Uncertified motor vehicle – 3 violations

In total, fifteen (15) cases were recorded.

Additionally, the team conducted an impromptu lecture with several drivers at the police outpost on the importance of road safety. The following topics were discussed during the lecture:

  1. No drinking and driving
  2. Safety of passengers
  3. Restrictions on the use of hand-held mobile devices while driving
  4. Importance of wearing seat belts
  5. No tint on the front windscreen
