The News Desk Reports The community of Orealla was shaken this past weekend when the planned funeral for 29-year-old Mark Devair was abruptly cancelled. This decision came after family members observed unusual marks on his body while preparing him for burial, prompting immediate police involvement.

Devair, a porter at a glass company and lifelong resident of Orealla Village, was discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances in the early hours of November 24. He was found in a seated position, hanging by a yellow rope beneath his family’s home around 4:45 AM.
Following the discovery, officers from the Orealla Police Station arrived at the scene. Initial investigations revealed that Devair had been struggling with profound grief after the passing of his father, former Toshao Lewis Devair, who tragically died in a boating accident earlier this year on May 10. Family members indicated that the loss had taken a significant toll on him, leading to episodes of depression and erratic behavior when under the influence of alcohol.
According to his sister, Devair left home around 2:00 PM on November 23 with friends and failed to return. Concern turned to alarm when another sister found him beneath the house the next morning and quickly alerted the family, who sought assistance from authorities.
A Medex at the Orealla Health Centre declared him dead at the scene and noted signs of discoloration on his chest and lower abdomen, suggesting potential trauma such as a hematoma or contusion.
However, it was during funeral preparations on Saturday, November 29, that his relatives observed additional unexplained markings on his body. This discovery led them to contact the police once more, who arranged for his remains to be sent to the No. 75 Regional Hospital Mortuary in Corriverton for a comprehensive post-mortem examination.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Devair’s untimely death, leaving the community in mourning as they await answers.
