Tragic Collision : Boston family is demanding Justice for 53-year-old Cecil Boston

News

An early evening outing turned tragic for a couple in Linden when 53-year-old Cecil Boston, a re-migrant and resident of the area, was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle on November 16. Boston and his wife were walking along the Speightland Access Road in Mackenzie, preparing to be picked up by a taxi, when a car with bright headlights approached at high speed.

In a desperate attempt to avoid the oncoming vehicle, Boston’s wife was flung aside, but her husband was hit head-on, striking the bonnet and windscreen of the car before being thrown onto the roadway. Witnesses rushed to the scene, and both his wife and bystanders transported Boston to the Mackenzie Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to Georgetown Hospital. Medical examinations revealed that he sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured neck, broken limbs, and severe damage to his spine and head, and he never regained consciousness.

As investigations by the police continue over a week later, the Boston family is demanding justice for their loss. A police report indicated that the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody, and a Breathalyzer test confirmed he was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The driver, who reportedly worked at a car wash in Amelia’s Ward, had taken a customer’s car for a drive when the accident occurred.

The family is calling for a thorough investigation and insists that full charges be brought against the responsible party. The investigation file is slated to be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further advice, as the family seeks closure and accountability in the wake of this tragic event.
