News Room : A tragic accident occurred early Monday afternoon when a motorcyclist collided with a pig on a public road, resulting in the loss of his life. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Daniel Gaindalall, a laborer from Block 4 Tain, Corentyne, Berbice.

According to reports, the incident took place around 5:00 PM as Daniel was returning home from Black Bush Polder. His wife, 49-year-old Janet Naidoo, recounted the harrowing moment when a pig unexpectedly dashed across the road, causing Daniel to lose control of his motorcycle. He was thrown off and landed on the grassy shoulder.
Emergency services quickly transported Daniel to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead just ten minutes after arrival. Janet shared that her husband suffered from severe head injuries as a result of the collision.
In the wake of this devastating incident, Janet expressed her deep concerns regarding the roaming of animals on public roads. “I think everybody should be very careful with their animals that they are minding,” she stated. “He [Daniel] goes out all the time with his bike, and this has never happened before. If that pig hadn’t crossed the road, Daniel wouldn’t have had the accident. Those responsible for animals should keep them secure in their yards to prevent such tragedies.”
The community is left mourning the loss of a young life, highlighting the urgent need for better animal control measures to ensure the safety of all road users.
