Fifteen-year-old Aleena Preetam of Good Hope, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), tragically passed away on Monday, leaving her family heartbroken and her one-month-old baby without a mother.
According to reports, relatives grew concerned when they heard the infant crying continually at the family home. Upon checking the bedroom, they discovered Aleena lying motionless on her bed, reportedly unresponsive.
Preetam, a former student of Abram Zuil Secondary School, had transferred to another secondary institution but eventually dropped out. After leaving school, she became pregnant and successfully gave birth, with both mother and baby returning home in good health. However, just a month after the birth, the young mother met her untimely demise.
The circumstances surrounding Aleena’s death remain unclear, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause. The community mourns the loss of this young life, and support for her family during this difficult time is essential.
