Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago pledged support for Guyana in the event of Venezuelan aggression, stating her government would grant U.S. forces access to defend Guyana if needed.

“If the Maduro regime attacks, my government will unhesitatingly grant access,” she affirmed. Her comments reflect growing regional concerns over Venezuela’s intentions and coincide with the U.S. strengthening its military presence in the Caribbean.
Persad-Bissessar emphasized that Trinidad and Tobago will act independently on security matters, highlighting threats from organized crime, drug trafficking, and rising gang violence in the region. She noted that these issues have compromised government effectiveness, making international cooperation essential for security.
