Trinidad : Venezuelan Man Suspected to Have Drowned While Cleaning Pond

Daily Express Reports : A 23-year-old Venezuelan man, Zeiller Emerson Gonzales, is believed to have drowned while cleaning a pond on Monday. His body was recovered after a difficult retrieval process from the pond located on Surprise Trace.

police reports, Gonzales and Cuarreno tied a length of rope around their waists with a plastic container attached. However, around 3:30 p.m., Gonzales encountered difficulties and submerged in the water.

Despite efforts from his companions to locate him, they were unsuccessful. An alarm was raised, prompting a response from the Police, Fire Services, Coast Guard, and members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT).

HSRT member Johnny Maharaj shared in a video on the team’s Facebook page that they were contacted around 5:30 p.m. to assist in the search. The team employed a length of rope with a fishhook at one end to retrieve the body from the pond. After several hours of searching, they successfully located Gonzales and brought him to the bank.

A district medical officer examined the body, which has since been transported to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital pending a post-mortem examination later this week. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities gather further details.
