Steve Tsoi, 21, known as “Timmy,” of Lot 19 Alness Village; Sherlon McLean, 20, a construction worker of Nursery Village; and Samantha Thomas, 34, an unemployed resident of Bangladesh, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the Albion Magistrate’s Court on March 31.

The three are accused of robbing Gurudat Sudhai of $1.5 million in cash at his supermarket on February 28 in Rose Hall Town. According to the charge, the defendants while armed and in the company of others carried out the robbery. All three have pleaded not guilty.

The trio was first brought before the court on March 9, when the prosecution objected to bail and the Magistrate remanded them to prison. At Tuesday’s hearing, however, the prosecution raised no objection, and Magistrate Matthias granted each defendant $300,000 bail with no conditions attached.

McLean and Thomas were subsequently released from custody. The matter was adjourned to April 14 for further proceedings.

Tsoi, however, remains behind bars in connection with separate firearms charges. He is accused of possessing a 9mm pistol with four matching rounds, an AK-47 rifle with seventeen rounds, and a pair of gloves allegedly discovered in Ulverston Village, Corentyne, Berbice charges to which he has also pleaded not guilty.
