Two individuals have been charged with trafficking in narcotics after the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) seized 164 grams of ecstasy during an operation on January 3, 2026.

The accused, 26-year-old Devon Grant and 19-year-old Lily Wills, appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. During the proceedings, Grant pleaded guilty, while Wills entered a not guilty plea.
As a result of his plea, Grant received a sentence of 12 months in prison and was fined $30,000. Wills, on the other hand, was granted bail set at $100,000.
CANU reported that the duo was arrested after several bags containing the narcotic were discovered in the motorcar they were traveling in near Turkeyen. Following their arrest, they were taken to CANU Headquarters, where the ecstasy was weighed and confirmed to be 164 grams.
The case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region.
