Guyana Times Reports | Rohit Lall, 29, a labourer from Walton Hall, and Alexander Benjamin, 18, a labourer from Windsor Castle, have been remanded to prison after being jointly charged with attempted murder.
The charge, which falls under Section 103 (C) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, alleges that the two men attempted to commit murder on Rajver Biseram, also known as Ravesh, on February 22 in Walton Hall.
Both accused appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court last Friday, where the indictable charge was read to them. They were not required to enter a plea at this stage.
The prosecutor objected to bail, and the court subsequently ordered both men to be remanded in custody. The case is set to resume on April 13.
Notably, Rajver Biseram has a prior conviction; in 2022, he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and was fined $30,000, in addition to being ordered to complete 180 hours of community service, with stipulations that failure to comply would result in a three-year imprisonment sentence.
