Two men were sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to drug trafficking offenses in separate Magistrate’s Courts.

In Georgetown, Jason Bascom appeared before Magistrate Azore, admitting to possession of 4.078 kg of cannabis for trafficking purposes. He received a three-year prison sentence and a fine of GYD$30,000, as reported in the latest updates from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU).

Meanwhile, at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, Colin Moore pleaded guilty to possession of 16.784 kg of cocaine for trafficking. Magistrate Nurse sentenced him to four years in prison and imposed a hefty fine of GYD$25,170,000. This conviction follows an operation in July 2025, where Moore and two others were remanded after agents discovered the cocaine at Turkeyen/MovieTowne.

CANU has included both cases in its public court updates, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
