The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has confirmed that Captain Dwight Bonus was involved in a single-engine aircraft crash in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, on Tuesday, July 29.
Captain Bonus was on personal vacation at the time of the incident and sustained injuries that necessitated a medical evacuation. He is currently receiving treatment overseas, with his condition reported as stable.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the GDF expressed its commitment to keeping in contact with the relevant authorities in Turks and Caicos and closely monitoring the situation. “Our thoughts are with Captain Bonus and his family during this time, and we extend our support for his full recovery,” the statement noted.
Details regarding the cause of the accident have not yet been disclosed by officials in Turks and Caicos. However, local aviation authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the incident.
