A fatal collision occurred on the Reliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast, earlier today, claiming the life of a local motorcyclist.

The victim has been identified as Satesh Persaud, also known as “Tony,” a resident of Reliance, Pomeroon-Supenaam.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred as Persaud was attempting to exit a side street onto the main Reliance Public Road. Witnesses and initial reports suggest that the motorcyclist failed to stop before entering the thoroughfare.
At that moment, a motorcar traveling north along the western carriageway at a high rate of speed struck the motorcycle. The force of the impact threw Persaud several meters from the point of collision, resulting in severe head trauma and multiple injuries to his body.
Persaud was quickly transported to the Lima Regional Hospital for emergency care, but he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The driver of the motorcar has been taken into police custody, and officers from the Guyana Police Force have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
