The Ministry of Home Affairs has released an update regarding the break-in and larceny that occurred at its Brickdam office in the early hours of Monday, December 8, 2025.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a glass window on the eastern side of the building, specifically in the washroom area, was found open without any visible signs of breakage. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed that the suspect entered through this eastern washroom window and was later seen moving around the middle flat with a bulky black travelling bag.
The footage further documented the suspect exiting the building via a fire escape on the northern side before scaling the eastern fence and proceeding east along Croal Street.
The Ministry has reported that a suspect has since been arrested by the Guyana Police Force in connection with this incident. Authorities recovered a quantity of items believed to have been stolen from the Ministry in the suspect’s possession.
The Ministry of Home Affairs commends the Guyana Police Force for their swift and professional response and appreciates the vigilance of the security personnel on duty. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
