In a Facebook video last evening, Veerasammy Ramayya announced his resignation from the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, led by Azruddin Mohamed. He made it clear that he would not apologize for his decision, stating, “I have stepped down from WIN and I just want to stay where I am right now.”

Ramayya, who has been a key mobilizer for Mohamed in the East Berbice Corentyne region, expressed feelings of being “insulted” and “disrespected” by the party. He emphasized, “I don’t want to be insulted by others, especially people with no character.”
He also revealed that he was not informed or invited to the opening of the party’s office at Whim, Berbice, and was excluded from the party’s Nomination Day activities. Ramayya stressed that respect should be shown, regardless of his desire for fame.
Having previously been a member of the Alliance for Change (AFC) and later supporting the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Ramayya has a history of resigning from political positions. He noted that internal dynamics within the party led to false accusations against him, and he felt he was perceived as a hindrance to others’ ambitions.
This departure raises questions about the internal dynamics within the WIN party, especially in light of the controversies surrounding its leader, who is currently under US sanctions. Ramayya’s decision highlights ongoing challenges in political alignments and personal integrity within the current political landscape.
