Violence Erupts at Corentyne Comprehensive High School, Two Students Hospitalized

News

BIG Smith News Watch Reports | Two 16-year-old schoolboys were hospitalized following a violent altercation at Corentyne Comprehensive High School (CCHS) on Monday afternoon, prompting police intervention to restore order.

The incident reportedly began shortly after 2 PM when a student from J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School entered the CCHS compound and allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on a student from CCHS, who was in uniform but had not attended classes earlier that day.

The situation escalated as the J.C. Chandisingh student directed his aggression toward other students on the premises. Despite attempts by teachers and security personnel to intervene, their efforts to control the situation were unsuccessful.

The Guyana Police Force was called to the scene. Video footage shows the J.C. Chandisingh student breaking free from police officers and continuing to assault other students before he was ultimately restrained.

Sources suggest that the altercation may have originated from a longstanding grievance between the boys; however, this has not been officially confirmed.

Both injured teenagers were later released into the custody of their parents and taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where they received treatment for head injuries and other wounds sustained during the altercation.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to gather further details and assess the situation.
