Amanza Walton-Desir, Presidential Candidate of the Forward Guyana Movement, has raised alarms about the size of the Official List of Electors (OLE) released by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), which totals 757,690 voters—almost matching the country’s last census population and 100,000 more than in 2020.

During a live broadcast, she called the situation a “recipe for disaster,” expressing concerns about the potential presence of foreign nationals on the list. Walton-Desir criticized GECOM for not conducting house-to-house registration or implementing biometric voting, despite repeated calls from opposition parties.
She highlighted ongoing discrepancies, including deceased individuals still listed as voters, and accused GECOM of being unprepared for the upcoming elections. Walton-Desir concluded that both GECOM and the government are disregarding citizens’ concerns at a time when many seek change.
