Welder Remanded for Attempted Murder

A 26-year-old welder, Alvin Grannum, has been remanded for attempted murder following an incident that occurred on July 1, 2025. Grannum, a resident of Lot 175 Dasilva Street, Kitty, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty.

The charge, which Grannum did not plead to as it is indictable, alleges that he wounded Dennis Narine with intent to kill him on Republic Street, Kitty.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Grannum and Narine were involved in a scuffle when Grannum, armed with a pair of scissors, stabbed Narine multiple times in the chest. The victim is currently hospitalized in the male surgical ward in critical condition.

The court was informed that Grannum admitted to the offense during a video and audio interview. Due to the serious nature of the charge and the current condition of the victim, Magistrate McGusty denied Grannum bail.

The case has been adjourned to August 8, 2025, for further proceedings.
