HGP NIGHTLY NEWS Reports — Wheelbarrows of Cash Delivered to Attorney General in Dramatic Compliance Move In a scene likened to political theatre, businessman Azruddin Mohamed arrived at the Office of the Attorney General on Friday with two wheelbarrows full of cash — a dramatic response to a firm directive from Attorney General Anil Nandlall.

The delivery came hours after the Attorney General demanded compliance with a court order by 4:00 p.m. on March 20, 2026, warning that enforcement action would follow “forthwith” if the deadline was missed. Instead of an electronic transfer or cheque, Mohamed presented a mix of coins and small‑denomination notes, including $100 and $20 bills, piled into the two wheelbarrows.
Legal analysts noted there is generally no legal bar on settling debts in cash, but said bulk physical currency — and coins in particular — can pose practical problems for receiving offices. Counting, verifying and officially receipting large volumes of coinage can be time‑consuming and operationally difficult.
As of the evening bulletin, the Attorney General’s Chambers had not issued a formal response to Mohamed’s delivery. The matter remains under observation and this is a developing story.
