A 29-year-old woman from Lima, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been charged with the offence of using a computer system to humiliate a person under the Cybercrime Act.
Patrina Butters is accused of conducting the act against Melissa Griffith on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Butters appeared before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed at the Anna Regina Magistrates’ Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charge. She was granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
The case has been adjourned for May 13, 2026.
The charge represents one of an increasing number of cases being prosecuted under Guyana’s Cybercrime Act, which criminalizes various offences committed through computer systems and digital platforms, including harassment, humiliation, and other forms of online abuse.
