Doris Joseph, a 43-year-old woman, has been fined $101,000 after being caught with 338 grams of cannabis while traveling to Region One (Barima-Waini) on Saturday.

According to a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), Joseph was apprehended with a bulky parcel containing the cannabis. Following her arrest, she was taken to CANU headquarters for processing.
On Monday, Joseph appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where she faced charges related to the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently ordered to pay a fine of $101,000.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and possession in the region.
