Fox News Reports : Master-at-Arms 1st Class Jeffrey Diaz, 47, stationed in Hawaii, died Saturday after rescuing two children from high surf in Waiapua‘a Bay. While the children were brought to safety, Diaz faced difficulties in the water.
Emergency responders recovered him and began lifesaving measures, but he was later pronounced dead at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital.
“The passing of our friend, MA1 First Class Jeffrey Diaz, has left us heartbroken,” said Capt. Robert Prince of the Pacific Missile Range Facility. An autopsy is pending, but foul play is not suspected. The Kaua‘i Police Department expressed condolences to Diaz’s family.
