Speaking in an interview with the News Room, Singh said the increasingly popular lights create dangerous glare, which can interfere with other drivers—especially oncoming traffic.

“Each time the Police encounter LED lights on vehicles, action is taken,” he stated.

Singh explained that while existing laws address excessively bright lighting, many modern LED systems can exceed traditional standards and affect visibility for drivers on the road.

“There is a glare, it has an effect on ongoing traffic,” Singh added.

He further noted that vehicle fitness violations are treated seriously, though enforcement can be difficult due to limited resources.

“There is only so much of us each day… but as far as possible, we do take action,” he said, adding that offences are recorded and monitored on a weekly basis.

Singh also rejected claims that some drivers may avoid penalties through influence or connections, stressing that the enforcement process applies to everyone.

“No one is above anything,” he urged motorists, reminding them that compliance with road laws is mandatory.

With LED lights becoming more widespread, Singh warned drivers that safety must come first and that those found in breach will face charges.
