The Ministry of Housing – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) is again warning the public to stay alert for scammers operating on social media platforms including TikTok and Facebook Messenger.

The Ministry said reports indicate that scammers are contacting persons and persuading them to make payments for house lots and housing units through unofficial channels, deceiving unsuspecting applicants.
Officials emphasised that housing allocations and official communication with applicants are done only through the Ministry’s established and verified channels.
Payments Only Accepted Through Official Offices
The Ministry reminded citizens that payments for house lots and lands are accepted only at the Ministry’s main office or its regional offices. It said it does not accept payments for allocations or housing units through MMG Mobile or any other unofficial methods.
It also warned that the most recent telephone number reportedly being used in the fraudulent schemes is 755-5595.
Report Suspicious Activity
Citizens were urged to be cautious when dealing with any housing-related transactions and to verify information through official sources before taking action. The Ministry advised that anyone who is contacted and asked to pay or who encounters suspicious activity should report it immediately to the Guyana Police Force or the CH&PA Enforcement Department.
