Dead is Isabella Dabadial, a student of Cooper Primary School. Authorities allege that the child was suffocated by her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, 26, a resident of Fyrish Road.

According to initial reports, Shivpersaud allegedly told investigators she had been experiencing significant emotional distress in the days leading up to the incident, after her husband left the home and refused to return. She further claimed that on the morning of the tragedy, she awoke to find no food in the house.

Police allege that Shivpersaud also attempted to kill her one-year and nine-month-old son, Ethan, by attempting to strangle or otherwise suffocate him. The attempt was unsuccessful and the toddler survived.

Following the incident, Shivpersaud allegedly inflicted injuries upon herself, cutting behind both ankles in what investigators believe was a suicide attempt.

All three the suspect and both children were rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where Isabella was pronounced dead on arrival. Shivpersaud was admitted, treated, and remains in a stable condition under police guard. The toddler is also receiving medical attention.

Police have since launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
