A 56-year-old security guard from Coverden is currently under medical care after being hospitalized Sunday evening for the consumption of a poisonous substance.
Police investigations indicate that the incident occurred at the man’s residence at approximately 1:30 a.m. Preliminary reports suggest that the man had returned home, at which point an argument ensued between him and his wife. Following the dispute, the man allegedly went outside the home and consumed an unidentified liquid substance from a small transparent bottle.
Authorities were notified of the incident and responded to the scene, where they found the man conscious. He was immediately escorted to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where he remains admitted under observation. Police have not yet disclosed the specific nature of the substance consumed, and they are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
