In an interview following his release, LaCruz insisted that the accusations against him are entirely fabricated and politically motivated. He stated unequivocally that his reputed wife never filed a report against him, suggesting that the complaint was lodged by a third party with personal and political grievances.

LaCruz denied all claims of physical violence, asserting that no abuse occurred against his partner or their four-year-old child. Addressing media reports regarding visible injuries on his partner, LaCruz maintained that there was no physical trauma and expressed frustration that he has not been granted access to official medical reports or witness statements by investigators. He further confirmed that he voluntarily presented himself to the police station, passed a sobriety test, and cooperated with the initial processing.

The WIN party, which LaCruz represents, issued a statement distancing itself from the actions alleged in the police report. Emphasizing a “zero-tolerance” policy regarding violence against women and children, the party noted that public office carries a “heightened responsibility” to uphold the law. While the party stated it supports an impartial investigation by the Guyana Police Force, it has vowed to take appropriate action consistent with its principles should the allegations be substantiated.

The charges against LaCruz include threatening behavior and other allegations related to the incident, which reportedly took place on the evening of Wednesday, June 10, 2026. He has appeared in court and is scheduled to return on July 7, 2026.
