Job Purpose: As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting and financial controls for Food for the Poor (Guyana). Reporting to the Accountant, you will oversee administrative tasks, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and organizational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- ✅ Perform Payroll administration
- ✅ Prepare prepayment and depreciation schedules
- ✅ Reconcile Medical & Pension payments
- ✅ Update & maintain the asset register
- ✅ Supervise annual Warehouse stock count
- ✅ Check off daily income, receipts & deposits, petty cash, committees’ statements, monthly/daily income reports, and other related reports
- ✅ Assist in preparing financial reports and bank reconciliation
- ✅ Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance
- ✅ Work with cross-functional teams to achieve accounting and financial goals
- ✅ Assist with forecasting and preparation of yearly and ad hoc budgets
- ✅ Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements and Experience:
- ✅ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or commensurate accounting certification
- ✅ Two (2) years or more experience in a similar role, preferably in a corporate environment
- ✅ Proficient in Microsoft Suite, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- ✅ Proficient in the use of Sage 50 (Peachtree)
