Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death for Eight-Year-Old Student in Crabwood Creek

  • News

An autopsy conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Bridgemohan has determined that the cause of death for eight-year-old Sahil Naipaul was a fractured spine with severance of the spinal cord, resulting from a tragic motor vehicle accident on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when Sahil was struck by a speeding car, identified as motor car PAK 6593, driven by a 21-year-old man from the same community. Following the accident, the driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police. He claimed that Sahil had suddenly run across the road, leading to the collision.

Sahil’s mother, Davi Ramkissoon, learned of her son’s accident from a neighbor while she was at home cooking. “I put down everything and I came out on the road and I see my son in the trench,” she recalled, her voice filled with grief.

Ramkissoon described the heartbreaking moment she found her son’s lifeless body submerged in a trench. “Mud was in his mouth, his teeth and all his foot break up, his hand break and he went in the trench,” she mourned, reflecting on the immense loss. This tragedy marks the second time Ramkissoon has faced the devastating loss of a child; her eldest son died three years ago at the age of ten.

The distraught mother expressed her trust in Sahil’s ability to navigate the road safely, noting that he often ran errands on the family’s bicycle or electric bike. On the morning of the accident, Sahil had made two trips to the shop using his bicycle, requiring him to cross the busy Corentyne Highway.

The community is in shock over the incident, with many expressing condolences and support for the grieving family as they come to terms with this tragic loss.
